Blink of an eye, it’s mid February! Before we start our Chinese New Year celebration, we celebrate Valentine’s Day first.
This year is special for my other half brought me out for Valentine’s Day. This is soooo rare! LOL!!
I’m sure some can recognise the view behind and guess the location of where I had my Valentine date. Yeah we were at Thirty8 Grand Hyatt
Spectacular view of KLCC right behind us <3 <3 This building never fails to impress me. I just love the structure and gonna make it a “To Do” list to go up to that Sky Bridge!
Okay, back to my Valentine date. We opted for the set menu and here’s what we had that night. It was a sharing set menu for two inclusive of two glasses of champagne.
We started off with Tomato petal confit. This consists of goat cheese powder, tomato consomme droplets, micro leaves with extra virgin olive oil.
First when I read goat cheese powder, I’m already guessing I won’t enjoy my starter and true enough, the cheese was just too overwhelming for me. Ended up I had the tomato consomme droplets and micro leaves. The rest consumed by my spouse.
Next, each of us had this platter of Green Pea Soup. It came with a seared scallop, smoked turkey and seafood foam.
This is nice and love the juicy seared scallop that has caviar on top of it!
We then proceeded with Boston Lobster Medallion. Made of shrimp mousse, portobello mushroom, supreme stock, ginger and spring onion.
Could not help but made me think of having a piece of seafood paste on a portobello mushroom cap. And the lobster, a piece of lobster meat on top of it >.<
Time for our mains ~ Wagyu Beef Cheek. Braised in vincotto, charred endive and salsify. This was good! The meat was super tender and love how it’s charred till caramelised.
Time for some sweet ending now. We were served the Valentine’s Day Dessert Platter which consists of deep fried truffles, passion soda, espresso bombe, panna cotta, caramelised milk chocolate and crisp croissant crouton.
After a few pieces, I have to declined for it’s too sweet for me to have piece after piece of chocolate.
Then I tucked into the passion soda. First few spoonful, it was good for the sourish taste took away some of those heavy sweetness from me. But after that it started to taste too sweet for me hahahaha….
Overall, I enjoyed my Valentine dinner and cheers to a beautiful year ahead as we prepare to usher in the Year of the Goat as well. Next time go ala carte and we should have opted for that instead of the set menu.
After dinner, we went for a mid-night show watching Triumph in the Skies. A bit of letdown in terms of story line but it was eye candy throughout the show watching leng chais and leng luis.
And that concludes my Valentine Celebration this year.
