Have you started your “lou sang” yet? I have and am counting that I’ve “lou-ed sang” for 4 times already!! One of it is at Ming Palace Restaurant in Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The last time I stepped into this place was 2 or 3 years ago!! How time flies…..
Ming Palace this year is offering their 5 Prosperity “Lou Sang” promotion. What I had was the Salmon Fish Yee Sang with Dragon Fruits and Pine Seed.
Do you love salmon? I love it and look at those many slices. Don’t have to fight for a piece. Each one would have their fair share
Chinese always loves a good bowl of soup and thus each person had this Doubled Boiled Cordycep Chicken Soup with Fish Maw and Dried Scallop. Nourishment to the body.
Each Chinese New Year, my freezer is sure to stock up on fishes as we like the saying “Nian Nian You Yu 年年有余” which means Abundance through the Year thus how can one not have fish during the New Year.
Steamed Silver Pomfret Fish with Supreme Soy Sauce is served and I love the texture of this fish. It’s good just pairing it with supreme soy sauce. You do not need to have this fish in other style.
Next is the Stir Fired Sea Prawn in Honey Dew Boat. Love prawns? Love fruits? This is a good combination for your have succulent prawns and honey dew in a platter.
Another auspicious dish to have during Chinese New Year is Braised Top Shell, Sea Cucumber with Dried Oysters and Fatt Choy. This dish alone speaks of many good sayings combined with delicacies. It sends across a message for abundance of good luck and wealth to come your way.
Instead of the usual steam, we had the Stewed Chicken with Chinese Herbs. Needless to say, once open the aroma of chinese herbs filled the room. Yummy and could not wait to tuck into this. The chicken is stewed till tender and beautifully soaked up the sauce that was stewed together with mushrooms and “fatt choy”.
To end our meal, we had the Fried Rice with Waxed Duck and Liver Sausage in Lotus Leaves. Usually we have this waxed duck and liver sausage rice wrapped in lotus leaves during Chinese New Year vs the usual fried rice. Lotus leaves add the aroma to the rice which is already fragrant by the waxed duck and liver sausage.
Although we will be welcoming the Goat Year, understandably it’s hard to shape a goat but this Rabbit Bun is super cute. Caden has two of it, could not resist the cuteness!
The lotus filled bun is paired with Fried Ninko. I love ninko and will get to have this during Chinese New Year. Other days and months, its pretty difficult to find a place selling this. Crispy on the outside, gooey warm in the inside. Perfect!
The other ending that I enjoyed was the Ginger Tea with Glutinous Rice Dumpling. I must say the tea is really spicy. So it you’re not a fan of ginger, you may not go well with this. I love ginger and finished up my bowl of ginger tea. The warmth can be felt from the throat down to my tummy! Ginger is known to expel wind so yeah this is good stuff.
The Glutinous Rice Dumpling is filled with Black Sesame.
After our meal, we met the Executive Chinese Chef, Chef Ng Chee Wah who leads his culinary team to prepare the scrumptious Chinese New Year set menus.
