GOSH! It’s already 1st July today. Where has half a year went? As we start the 2nd half of 2013, the Holy Month of Ramadhan will be upon us soon and then followed by celebrations and celebrations and before you know it, we will reach the end of Year 2013!
So let’s not waste precious time away and kick start the 2nd half of the year with a Ramadhan post! Let’s take a peek at what PARKROYAL Hotel Kuala Lumpur has to offer this year with it’s theme of “Hawker Temptations”!
If you’re not aware, Chatz Brasserie recently underwent a revamped and now features Live Action Concepts where dishes will be prepared a-la minute right before you. Let’s take the journey of mouth salivating photos to do the talking….
Starting from the Seafood on Iced Display, here you’ll get fresh oysters and poached mussels with lemon and lime wedges. Top it off with cocktail sauce and spicy tomato sauce.
If you prefer something green, check out the Salads and Dressings. For my local version of greens, there’s an assortment of Ulam-ulam Mentah dan Rebus. Choices range from petai, jering, kerda, ulam raja, kacang botol, daun selom pucuk ubi, pucuk pegaga, kacang bendi, jantung pisang, terung pipit to terung jari.
While you’re at the Ulam-ulam Mentah dan Rebus, scoop some Kerabu to go with it. There’s pesembor berlauk with peanut gravy, nasi kerabu, kerabu pucuk paku, umai ikan, kerabu soo hoon berudang, kerabu perut, kerabu ayam daun keson and kerabu jantung pisang.
Off course you can’t forget to have your lemang, ketupat palas that goes well with serunding now do you? I’ll always have my lemang and ketupat when I’m feasting on Ramadhan food! There’s also the famous bubur lambuk if you wish to line your tummy with something warm.
Moving on to the main dishes, there’s udang galah goreng mamak, gulai lemak telur itik, kurma kerabu, ikan duri berlada, ayam percik iftar, pajeri nenas with condiments of acar kendondong and acar buah.

Moving on now to the Action Stations, besides having the Roti Canai and Murtabak served with chicken curry vegetable dalcha, you find yourself being drawn to having a plate of Char Koay Teow dish right up in front of you! Ain’t it a good way to break fast?
If this is not suffice, get yourself a platter of Oyster Omelette for sharing. Ooh yum-yum!!
I was also delighted to find there’s Local Grilled Fish and Cockles that comes with homemade sauce of sos asam, kicap pedas, cili thai and kalasan sauce!
Really really spoilt for choices here. Besides all these, you find that there’s a Noodle Station, Chicken Rice and Dim Sum. Now this is truly Hawker’s Temptation! You can find all of these great hawker delights all under one roof!!
If this is not enough, there’s also the Carvery Station where you find there’s BBQ Whole Lamb!
For winding down or for you start breaking fast as to break fast, one must consume something sweet to neutralise the acidity in the tummy, you can opt for an assortment of kuih muih or indulge yourself in a bown of sweet bubur kacang hijau durian.
Chatz Brasserie also came up with a Ramadhan Special Beverage – Chatz Air Janda Pulang which is actually made with fresh coconut water with palm sugar syrup. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of this for I got exciting and drank up my whole glass! Needless to say, it was fantastic and refereshing
For kiddos, you can end up your Ramadhan feast with scoops of ice-cream. I especially love the black sesame and green tea ice-cream.
