Are you excited already that Christmas is drawing nearer?
I was excited when I entered Starhill’s Feast Village locating Fisherman’s Cove, my venue for the night for a Christmas preview <3
A yacht docked right in Feast Village greeted me and I was all set for a little adventure on board the yacht which boast a rustic setting and fisherman’s lifestyle as it was beautifully decorated.
For more privacy, one can have their meal on the mezzaine floor that has booths resembling a houseboat’s bamboo shed and you can watch the world go by below as you savour the delightful gems from the sea from the open-concept kitchen below.
Be fascinated with the Chefs busy preparing your meal that you’ve picked be it sashimi, slow poached, chargrilled, steamed or pan-fried.
Let’s start the feast. We opted to sit by the sails to enjoy the lovely breeze while tucking into our meal lovingly prepared by Chef Wai
We started off with fresh warm bread served with herb butter. Something about freshly warm bread gets to me. I could not help but to spread the luscious butter on the bread and savour each bite. It just gives me the cozy feel. A very comfort food to me.
Our appetizer arrives not long after and we started off with Amuse Bouche ~ a surprise from Chef Wai. We had delectable foie gras that is accompanied with tangy bits by the side. Luscious flavours from one bite, I’m blown off with the appetizer and can’t wait to see what’s else is in store.
Another favourite of mine, I can never say no to oysters. Each pax will get a pair of oyster. The Oven Baked Pacific Rock Oysters came garnished with mornay and parmigiano reggiano sauce. It entices me as soon as it was placed in front of me. The heavenly smell of cheese beckons me to tucked right in.
I did and it was juicy in the inside with the outer layer bearing a thin crust of cheese.
I had a great time guessing what this was before sipping it to find myself amuse for this creativity. It’s actually a bowl of soup, to be exact ~ Blue Lobster Cappucino accompanied with Campagne Garlic Toast. Woah, lobster + campagne, I’m in love <3 <3
A very unique experience for me to have soup serve “coffee ala cappucino” style. It brings with it a very strong lobster flavour. Dip the campagne garlic toast with it and I’m sure you, like me will enjoy it to the very last drop!
Our mains came next and we had to choose between Roasted Fillet of Atlantic Cod or Braised Australian Wagyu. Frankly both are my favourite and both sounds appetising. So what’s the decision?
Roasted Fillet of Atlantic Cod, topped with melted aged brie and caramelized gold onions. Thick flaky slice, this is a very fine light dish for fish lovers. The melted aged brie and caramelized onions just added to the flavours nicely.
You may asked why is there a meat when Fisherman’s Cove is supposed to boast of all things seafood? Not to be looked upon lightly, their Braised Australian Wagyu that comes sitting on a Burgundy Reduction is something not to be missed!
Serving you the cheek part, this is a beautifully caramelised wagyu. Extremely tender that it literally melts in your mouth without any strength to chew. Cooked for 16 hours, a cut into the wagyu will reveal that it maintained it’s pinkish centre!
Decision? We had both as we came in pairs and decided to share I still had a hard time choosing one over another after trying both…. Just wish to have both and not to decide which one for the mains.
All good things must end with some sweet note. We ended our luscious meal with Snow White Yule Log. Something would be missing is we don’t have a log to end our meal aye? For larger group, you may get the whole log to share.
For us, we have a slice of the yule log each which came with organic berries compote. It is a rich moist chocolate log laced with blueberry ~ a perfect match of sweet with a hint of sour. You can spot the swirls of chocolate centre, chocolate cream with a dusting of cinnamon layered with ganached. Truly a heavenly taste!
It was a honour to have met Chef Wai for his beautiful creation. I went home a very happy girl and can’t wait for Christmas.
The meal at Fisherman’s Cove is available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. You can have the choice of having the food only for RM168++ or opt with wine pairing for RM268++. It’ll be a great way to spend some time with love ones during this jolly season over good food.
